Step Two

Pre-surgery and surgery

Next, our team of specialist consultants look at your holistic treatment from all angles in preparation for your surgery.

During this stage of your journey, you will meet with the specialist team, including a dietician, psychologist and physician.

Your assessment

Various investigations may need to be performed as we design the best approach to your treatment and surgery. This can include sleep studies, blood tests, gastroscopy for those with reflux, and perhaps cardiac investigations if necessary.

After your pre-operative assessments are complete, you will have an appointment with your surgeon to receive the results and ask any questions.

Your surgery

Before surgery, you will need to undertake a three-week Optifast diet.

Your surgery will be performed at The Avenue Hospital or St Vincent’s Private Hospital. This requires a two-night hospital stay so that you can be closely monitored. Radiology and pathology will also be performed during your inpatient stay.

Your follow-up

You will be discharged from the hospital with clear and easy-to-understand post-operative instructions.

We will make an appointment for your post-operative consultation with your surgeon, which is usually three or four weeks later at their private rooms.
