Your Lifestyle Key To Succeeding With Your Weight Loss Surgery

Preparing for your pending weight loss surgery, regardless of your choice of surgery it can always be both a nerve racking and exciting time.

No matter how much you have researched, having all your questions answered, there will always be that element of surprise of personal experience of what it will actually be like living with the gastric band, gastric sleeve or the bypass surgery.

Irrespective of your surgery after over 20 years’ experience, in managing weight loss surgery clients, it is my personal experience that those individuals who work with the surgery from the beginning to modify their lifestyle habits and food choices will have more of a streamlined journey to the ultimate weight loss goal. The reason for this is weight loss that occurs with a zero or minimal effort, creates a false sense of security.  That when more effort is required to continue the journey the ideal personal weight goal.  When the individual arrives at their stall in weight loss, those who have not modified their lifestyle to make better choices, there does appear to be a bigger hurdle to overcome to continue the weight loss.

Therefore it is really important to understand that the weight loss surgery is an amazing tool to supports and make the journey easier when you are less hungry and able to be feel more satisfied on less food. However it will not motivate you, it will not help you make better food choices or will the surgery make you become or maintain your physical activity levels. This is your contribution to work successfully hand-in-hand with the surgery for your ultimate results.

Weight loss in isolation will be unsuccessful. It is essential that you maintain contact with your medical team and tap into which support stream you require assistance with long-term. Therefore the key to succeeding post weight loss surgery is to work alongside it from the beginning.
